• Two
years
after the monumental
restoration job was completed, the World's Largest Catsup Bottle
continues
to lure tourists and locals with its charm. On Saturday, May 17, 1997,
during National Historic Preservation Week, the Downtown
Collinsville
revitalization office hosts "Catsup Bottle Celebration Day." The first
of its kind, this event would eventually evolve into the "Catsup Bottle
Birthday Bash" and then the "World's Largest Catsup Bottle
Summerfest."

• A
crew from
the cable
TV network Family Channel made a stop in Collinsville during
their
summer-long cross-country road trip. They were here at the Catsup
Bottle
to video tape two segments of the travel series "Postcards from the
Road."
The large group of residents that met with the film crew would see
themselves
on TV all summer long declaring the tour slogan: "You ain't seen summer
yet!" The spots were used as introductions to the "Shop 'Til You Drop"
and "Home and Family" programs. Steve Gilreath, producer of the series,
said, "We've been to a lot of places and this is our greatest stop
yet!"
The visit was coordinated through the Downtown Collinsville
revitalization
office.

December
6, 1997, on cable TV's History Channel. Not only did it feature
still photo footage of the Catsup Bottle, but it also highlighted Wade
McCormick singing his "Catsup Bottle Song." Other local musicians,
Steve
Koritta, Fred Clark, and Bob, supplied music for the piece as well.
