This
vintage 1945 postcard gives us a good look at the Evergreen Gardens
building.
This fine establishment was known as an upscale
hotel-resort-casino-nightclub,
with ties to local gangster Buster Wortman, before it became home to
Brooks
Foods and the G.S. Suppiger Company in 1952. The back of this postcard reads: "Largest and finest night club in the middle west. Five spacious dining rooms for banquet, wedding parties, etc. Copyright 1945 H.C. Schnell, Collinsville, Ill." Compliments of Doris Bauer - from her private collection. |
